A road bike is a bicycle designed exclusively for on road use either for road racing/training, keeping fit, commuting or as a mode of transport .Traditionally made from steel, modern bikes are now constructed from a range of lightweight materials including aluminium, carbon fibre, titanium or a carbon/aluminium mix.
Road bikes are both strong and light with skinny tyres and narrow wheels to maximise speed, they also have drop handlebars and a saddle higher than the bars to increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the rider. Front and back wheels are close together for improved handling.
